Cause Garp didn't care about Rocks Pirates at first and only went to God Valley because he heard Roger was there, and we know Garp does things his way. We know Roger & Garp ended up teaming up ultimately but I don't see Garp accepting to face an "underling" while Roger goes for the big boss

Yes he cared about Roger, so he couldve been stopped by a Roger underling or Rock underling, or it couldve been a threeway at first and Garp got sidelined.

It would also explain why Garp doesnt like being called the hero of the marines since he didnt actually defeat Rocks.

That was not the panel I was talking about lol. It was the one after Hawkins first started using his hax on Kid. Law even called out Kid, he was holding off Big Mom for a brief while in-between those chapters.

Oda had BM portrayal as Admiral or FA potential. The portrayal for them being top tiers is there. So this doesnt change a thing, it still solidifes them as top tiers and peers to Great Pirates.
