Whitebeard betraying Xebec feels like character assassination after his conversation with Shanks about how yu can't live in this world withouta code of conduct, if he really disliked Xebec this much it feels more in character for WB to just pack his stuff and leave.

I don't think so packing and leaving is an option either.
Xebec won the Davy Back fight Fair and Square, it's one of the Pirate law/Rule only to give Loyalty to the new captain.
