Rocks is a pirate. Why would anyone expect him to be a nice guy ? Lol

He is much more tamer then I expected him to be though. And there are much worse pirates then him anyway. And if we start throwing villain allegations on characters of one piece then I suppose everyone except kuma probably can be branded as one.

Nope. Imu isn't even favored by the Gods.

Imu will be scared of Luffy and Blackbeard because their ambitions far exceed his own.

Luffy and Blackbeard's Haki will make Imu's look like a little puppy's later.

Think about it! Imu got scared of that Haki Knot made my Joyboy. If Luffy's Haki gets anywhere near that, then Imu is going to end up screaming around again

He seems cool and composed, right now, but he freaks out at the mere thought of Joyboy. That speaks volumes.

You're thinking the end war is just going to be everyone using ancient weapons for a final fight against the world government. This leaves problems with a very important thing - The Will of D.

The Will of D isn't just to break free of Imu's control, it's actually to fulfill some Ancient Belief and Values System related to the Ancient Kingdom. However, I don't think it's just Joyboy's belief, because it's the entire Ancient Kingdom's beliefs and they might not all be the same, and if they're not then that means there is a potential for the Ancient Kingdom's technology leading to both good and evil things. That's the true disaster.

Imu has been largely outside of this element of the story. He doesn't seem to know the Ancient Kingdom's beliefs at all, and he couldn't make their technology work either (he needed Vegapunk to do that and Vegapunk was hundreds of years ahead of humankind in his understanding of technology).

Yes, Imu has been a driving force for the current events in the story, but none of the current events surround the Ancient Kingdom yet.

I thought it was kind of lame that Oda made it so that the charity they were robbing was actually just corrupt, and he isn´t really showing them to be villainous on screen, but the implication does seem to be that they are evil. They are wiping towns off the map

Recent developments only reinforced that Imu is nowhere close to final villain, imo.
If my FS is right, Imu isnt even the penultimate villain.
The problem of OP world is much, much older than Imu.

He is not comically evil like CD's and WG but he's not good guy of course.
Rocks just charismatic and has some likeable traits.

But I genuinely think that Oda can make him do some horrendous shit to not let Roger(and potentially Garp) who defeated him look bad because rn he doesn't really seems to be any more "evil" than them.

Like others have said Rocks simply isn't comically evil

Honestly the only truly comically/pure evil characters are the WG/Imu

Even characters like BM or Kaido had traits that could be viewed as "good"

Big Mom wanted to unite all of the races in the world and have them sit down at the same table as a happy family. Even as she was negatively influenced by Streusen her goal remained the same (a twisted version but still)

Even Kaido took in a few innocent rugrats like Ulti and Page One. Iirc Jack was raised by Kaido as well and you can see how much he cares about some people in his crew

Oda's painting Rocks as a guy that's definitely not good (laid waste to various nations, injured an innocent child Loki to further his goals, etc) but also isn't a complete scumbag (never forced Elbaf to fall under his banner, threatened Kaido at the mere mention of attacking Harald, openly attacked the Celestial Dragons in order to save Shakky, etc)

I feel like the whole point of this part of the flashback is to show us an alternate timeline chaotic Luffy or what a combination of Luffy and Blackbeard would look like. Hell, the way Rocks is attempting to recruit Harald perfectly mirrors Luffy's recruiting process

Similar to what he did with almost every Strawhat he won't force you to join him but he'll ask you so much you eventually cave in when you realize how great of a man he is

Harald didn't because coincidentally just like Vivi he had too many responsibilities and people to care for in order to sail with Rocks. There was far too much at stake with all he hoped to accomplish
