Speculations So why did Roger turn on Rocks during God Valley?

So it is safe to say that in the beginning it was actually Rocks and Roger against the CD in order to save Shakky, but then later it became a 2 v 1 against Rocks.

What did Rocks do for Roger, a pirate that hates the WG, to join them against him.

My theory on what most likely happened was that Rocks started slaughtering the celestial dragons, including their children which is where Roger drew the line("a newborn child should not bear the sins of the parents" - Roger).

It could also be that Roger used this as an opportunity to take down Rocks, but I don't think that's in character for him.

Rocks/rocks pirates defeated roger/roger pirates most likely one year before GV. Hence roger hold grudge against rocks.

Or their fight was interrupted. Similar to Shiki vs Roger.

That's headcannon. We don't know how things worked out. We only know that news lied about Garp being responsible for Rocks defeat. So far it is most likely that Roger had Rocks and Garp against him.

Imu and WG wanted Rocks to disappear long before so it’s safe to say they played a bigger role here than Roger.

Yet useless Imu, Gorosei and Holy Knights let the man ran away in front of their eyes similar to what Sabo did.

Imu called to nuke the Island afterward.

I don't think they had that option. It was only said that the island disappeared not that there was a float after that, that sea levels rose. Only with mother flames they were able to use such weapon.

At first it was Rox Pirates vs Roger Pirates vs CDs vs Marines

In time it turned into Rox Pirates vs Roger Pirates and CDs and Marines

Garp probably switched sides because Rox said he was no better than a pirate and insulted his marine pride.

Roger always wanted Rox defeated so he could hopefully claim Shakky

The CDs probably wanted Rox gone because of an order from Imu
