Break Week Would one piece be more fun if...

Would it be more fun?

Ehhh the Dark Continent works within the confines of the HxH verse

Not to mention the Dark Continent is less about opposing other hunters and more about surviving whatever the environment throws at you

Exploration is a big deal in One Piece but a lot of the appeal comes from the interactions and battles between crews that couldn’t really exist in the DC

Like the Yonko, Warlords, and the Marines would be a non factor in comparison to the natural hazards that occur

Wasn't that the description of the new world we got?
Even more dangerous than " Paradise ".

I understand the Yonkou, Warlords and Marines part, but don't you think there should be a totally untamed side of the new world as well?

A total wild card

But then what would be the appeal in that? Unlike HxH there would really be no reason to go there

An untamed side of the New World would only make sense narratively if the One Piece was located there (which is a potential explanation for few people going to Lodestar or nobody accidentally making it to Laugh Tale)

In HxH it's seen as the ultimate challenge for a Hunter and there are various things that can only be found there that don't exist in the human world like Nitro Rice for example

What is the dark continent like?

It looks very fun yeah

One Piece is fun in its own way though especially now in the final saga where anything can happen

Plus you know we don't really know what islands we are going to see next, so far they mostly focused on defeating Kaido, now comes the exploring

But also there can be spin offs or other stories from the ancient kingdom or the world after the dawn that could very very wild

And I think we just ignore how weird One Piece is, same with dragon ball, I get it that we get used to the designs and how the world looks but even what we have seen from Elbaf so far is very creative

Serious is a better descriptor then fun. New World itself was seemingly meant to be more violent kill or be killed compared to the other Paradise half of the Grand Line. Where one has to surrender to a Yonko or be crushed. It reality it seems one can survive just fine in the New World without affiliating with any Yonko at all, simply by keeping a low profile and not picking a fight with any Yonko.

Dark Continent is still just a rumor. We've never seen it in real time, only read about it in flashbacks.

So the question should be: can Togashi sensei write "Dark Continent" well enough to live up to the readers' expectations?

If you want to know my opinion, New World got a less hype, and Mr. Oda failed to write it to readers expectations.

Togashi is different, but he's been sleeping on an endless hiatus since 2012. Also, his writing style makes exploring the Dark Continent something that can only happen at the end of the manga.

Don't forget that after the Voyage arc and reaching the first destination, we'll need to travel even further. And I don't think that's going to happen.

I believe that the journey to the Dark Continent will be shown as the final decision of a certain character, presumably Kurapika, as the conclusion of the entire Voyage arc. Then the whole saga(?) will be interrupted and we will see a time skip. But of course, for that Togashi-sensei needs to release more than 150 chapters.
