They really did not want to adapt this lol. It's a much more impactful moment in the manga (Kizaru's face being genuine shock- something insane from an admiral and especially from Kizaru) yet here it just looks like him having the usual dopey goofy reaction to everything. Someone destroying a logia attack (not deflecting or blocking, flat out destroying) is given less gravitas and fluid animation than a throwaway scene of Zoro cutting water at the beginning of the arc - a scene not even the most dedicated swordswallowers cared about when it first happened in the manga. Any anime-only watcher is simply being misled by a poor adaptation.

Toei is fully commited to butchering Oda's manga.

Animation was "ok" at best compared to what toei usually does and it didn't capture the impact it should have compared to manga, it simply felt like another moment
It absolutely was not just ok. It was some of the smoothest art + animation from toei. Only thing is the entire episode was consistent, so the scene didn't stick out like a sore thumb. Only thing you can say is they should have paused for longer when Kizaru made the face, to put more emphasis on it.

It was just another moment 😂, you're acting like this scene was any different in the manga, or lead to something greater. It wasn't even a double spread.

The only difference in the manga is it came from left field, so the shock value behind it carried the scene, whereas Sanji fans like you were anticipating this scene for years in the anime.

There's really nothing wrong with the scene, it's all in your head. If you were watching anime only that scene would be a standout scene because of the feat itself, rn you have already taken the feat for granted so the only thing you're looking for is some over the top animation to separate itself from the rest of the episode. But if you just clip that scene on its own, it's done exceptionally well. Great art, great animation while keeping it simple, .and for once even great sfx. Whoever was behind this scene did a great job at showcasing Kizaru's beam as well, it's moving like his light beam should, and Sanji kicking it sounded so impactful I'm so tired of the egghead arc showing Kizaru and his light moving all wiggly and shit.

If you think the ONLY scene in the series where an admiral, and that one being KIZARU is genuinely shocked and suprised at a feat is just another moment. Have a nice day i dont have anything to say to you

I agree, that's one spot where the manga has it beat, they should have paused for longer at Kizaru's reaction. Everything else was solid. Even the way the OST was playing and Sanji's kick completely stopped the track, and the lighting changed, very well done.

Ultimately though Kizaru's reaction amounted to nothing, so toei probably kept that in mind, and didn't want to milk it.
