Should Kidd return to the story?

Recently I’ve been wondering about Kidd’s relevance to the plot moving forward when suddenly it struck me - He doesn’t have any. Kidd is a character who:

Had his backstory revealed in an SBS as though it were an afterthought
Serves no purpose as a rival to Luffy moving forward
Has no clear path to continue on that doesn’t involve him ultimately failing miserably to accomplish anything.

I’m starting to think his death might serve a greater purpose than anything he could accomplish by being alive. His death can mark a tonal shift in the race to find the One Piece by communicating to the reader that prevalent characters can fail and die in the current timeline (something One Piece as a series badly needs imo). Shanks doesn’t need the feat but it does add some depth to his character by showing that he’s willing to kill mercilessly, even if reluctantly for the sake of his allies. Aside from that even if you just compare him to Law, even he has another motivation besides finding the One Piece that warrants him having a place in the plot in the future. From the start he’s always had an interest in learning the meaning of D and now it seems like it’s going to be his main interest going forward. The one thing he could have had going for himself was to be a conduit for us to find out more information about the man marked by flames but other characters seem to know just as much if not much more about him than Kidd does such as the Blackbeard Pirates, making him worthless concerning that as well.

I’ll leave it here for now. Does anyone feel like Kidd can serve the story in any meaningful way going forward? If you do, then why? Do you think Oda originally planned for Kidd to play a much larger part and if so, why did he pivot away from it?

kid holds a grudge against shanks. he will ally with shanks' biggest foe: blackbeard. when they face the redhair pirates, kuzan will switch sides. kid will take him on and take him out, with advanced conqueror's. this will happen around the time luffy beats akainu. so the rivalry will be back on in same sense.
I think maybe one of the worst things to happen to Kid is him defeating Shanks if he is after Shamrock, and then finding out Shamrock exists and he defeated Shanks for nothing

well, i doubt he is after shamrock. he could probably tell them apart based on the scar, the missing arm, the clothing.
Yeah maybe, but he may be after Shamrock since Shamrock is a celestial dragon

I think would definitely be a very big regret of his either way if he defeated Shanks and then found out he was actually after Shamrock

And I mean we haven't seen Shanks just mess around with countries, but celestial dragons would and did

I hate those damn Red Hair Pirates for denying us this. Kid and Law go through the trouble of blasting Big Mom into a pool of lava yet Shanks and his #1 glazer, Straw Hat Luffy, reap the rewards of it on Elbaf. It’s not fair.

And don’t get me started on Yasopp waiting until the Barto Club’s backs were turned before shooting them. Actual rat bastard behavior from those Red Hair Pirates

No, his character barely has any substance or narrative, and the only thing he has is the poorly crafted hype Oda tries to give him. Either way, he'll probably return to share screen time with 50 other characters.

Completely agree man, couldn't say it better myself. What Shanks and co did with the poison was far more sadistic than anyone else, even the Yonkos and Admirals but they're treated as so noble, so virtuous in the story, by Oda and by the fandom.

The irony especially with how they constantly call Kidd evil is astounding. Why does Shanks have a 4 billion bounty again? Must be such "nice guys".

Did you have your eyes closed during Wano? Even Fujitora can see that is bullshit.
