Lobster Pain and Zoidberg the GOATS
A little something I was just thinking about randomly and tried to turn into a theory:

The Moses Archetype: An Analysis of Shanks and Buggy

  • The Foundling and the King's Purge
    • The Biblical Precedent: A Pharaoh, fearing a prophesied leader, orders the execution of Hebrew boys. Moses is saved and raised in the royal court.
    • The One Piece Parallel: The World Government hunts for Roger's potential offspring. Shanks is found as a baby in a treasure chest at the God Valley Incident. Raised alongside Buggy, he mirrors Moses being raised in a royal setting.

  • The Rejection of Royalty
    • The Biblical Precedent: Moses rejects his privileged upbringing and flees after witnessing oppression.
    • The One Piece Parallel: Shanks, a Celestial Dragon by birth, rejects his high-born status. His attack, "Divine Departure," symbolizes his final separation from a life of power and tyranny.

  • The Unlikely Liberators
    • The Biblical Precedent: Moses leads his people from slavery and parts the Red Sea to ensure their freedom.
    • The One Piece Parallel: Buggy accidentally leads a mass breakout from Impel Down, acting as a liberator. His awakened Bara Bara no Mi is theorized to be the power that will literally "part the Red Line," fulfilling the final miracle of the Moses archetype.

Interesting thoughts. Now there are definitely religious references in One Piece. Undeniably, the last part got most of my attention. Parting the Red Sea / Red Line. I always knew about the red line would get destroyed theories resulting in creating the all blue and such, but this is the first time I think that I have heard someone make a connection to Moses parting the Red Sea. Definitely a creative thought. It would also allow the animals to get together again when the wall is gone. Laboon etc. Oda is definitely going to give Buggy some huge moments.

I mean this panel was already a Moses reference if anything. Holding that staff too.

Thank you dude! I appreciate it a lot! Great point especially with the panel too! Man I can't wait for Buggy's full backstory and name tbh.

I feel he and Usopp are actually kindred spirits and when we learn more about Usopps heritage and both his parents histories, things will get very sad but bittersweet too. Same for Buggy imo. I even feel Luffy and Usopp are kinda like Shanks and Buggy together too.
