Shanks only become a yonko a short while ago there also a good chance he did not have to power get RP from them ealier on.
BM and Kaido were around much longer that him and had way more forces and did not even get the RP form any other place or each other .
Also i don't know where you getting the idea that i saying shanks want Nika i am saying that luffy awakening his DF is what make shanks want to go after the OP now.
It could be something as simple as shanks being a gate keeper now that luffy reach a certain level and he has surpass him to get OP.
Like i said time will tell .

He´s been a Yonko for 6 years, what was he waiting for? It´s not like he needed to be called a yonko to steal poneglyphs anyway. He´s had a strong crew since forever
Because the idea doesn´t make sense? Why would Luffy have inspired Shanks to get the OP? He didn´t say ¨We should test Luffy before he can get the One Piece¨ he says ¨we should claim the One Piece¨. Where´s the connection to Luffy? He clearly wants at the expense of Luffy and other pirates, what can time tell us about that?

Like i said in the same chapter that shanks remember stealing the DF , becoming luffy mentor , giving him his SH and losing his arm .
He then say to Beck lets go after the OP which would put him in direct confrontation with luffy when he was not before and you saying there no connection let agree to disagree.
You even had buggy saying shanks finally going after the OP after all these years and he don't know why ?
