I really hope Gege does decide to write another longer manga at some point, having learned from the experience of writing JJK. They've shown so much ability already and yet there's still clearly a lot more room for them to grow

Funnily enough I feel almost the opposite. Not that Nobara was poorly written or anything but I feel very strongly against the decision to bring her back, at the point in the story she was, and in the way that she was. While for the most part Maki's character journey was actually one of the more compelling ones to me.

Also as far as the pacing goes, I didn't mind it because the main tool Gege uses to add characterization and develop these characters further is through fights. While a slice of life arc for example would've been fun, it wouldn't actually do anything to progress the plot or the character journeys.
