Honestly, Oda is quite straight forward in showing this flashback, no bullshit, no vague details. Everything is too clear that it stops theory crafter making their fanfic theory.

One piece seems rather old fashioned in this regard. I personally dislike that Oda made the Kuja a meme crew that defeats enemies with their appearance but one can't deny that such writing would feel right at home in more classical stories.

What I find strange is that the estimated 99% male users here seem to have such an issue with suggestive character interactions. I don't see anybody criticize Oda's writing as sexist but I see a lot of complaining about how being attracted to attractive women is seen as a sign of "weakness" that downgrades male characters.

I only ever complain about Oda making the women unrealistic in terms of their bodies. I don't see a reason to cry about him making characters like Roger yield to Shakky's beauty though

Harald is without a doubt the poor man’s version of Kaidou. What’s he going to do when the flaming torch with AP, lethality, AoE, DC, and Haki that he can’t handle comes flying at him?

Ofc ,Oda can't write women in a non demeaning ,non objectifying way which is one of my main issues with one piece but the majority of user's priorities here are definitely elsewhere.
Most of the posts here talk about "goon piece", "Roger has become a Sanji, Xebec >Roger"
And after Xebec has shown the same type of behavior "Xebec sucks too, unknown Davy Jones>>> Lebec the guy we've been hyping to the heavens just one week ago" and how falling in love somehow affects the character's powerlevel
