What was the last movie you watched?

Meanwhile Lermany's top movies of the past decades are Fack ju Göthe franchise , strange unfunny romance movies and whatever Till Schweiger is shitting out....:saden:
Yeah, don't worry, our movie system is completely broken too.
It's the same old racists fks who make the same kind of movies every year and take the entire place that could be given to a young hearthed generation.

The movie is usually this :

"Old reationnary deepshit finds out his child is [insert : gay ; trans ; black ; handicaped ; leftist etc.], they fight, they fight, they fight, he understand that he was a moron, the movies explains that the problem was the fact that they never tried to speak and not that the guy was looking at reactionnary news H24) ; there is a bad situation, the old deepshit proves that he changed, they hug, the end."

you guys have Christian Petzold, one of the best current directors

but if we gonna consider the others decades you have Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Wim Wenders, Syberberg, Werner Shroeter

And of course the couple Huillet-Straub

but the movie critics of cahiers, like godard, considers the hollywood directors who work in the american system as auteur as I said earlier
I'm saying that because some people could think that the hollywood movies from golden age has less artistic importance because there were no auteur there
Indeed... For some. but a lots of critics gatekeep that title beside the OBVIOUS author (Spielberg, Ridley scott, Tarantino etc.). Before 2010, you would rarely see a movie critic explain that blockbuster directors like Michael Bay could be authors too. And even in the cases of huge directors like Spielberg, there was still a HUGE stigma.

Youtube opened the scale of movies critics to many types of movies. I lived the shift myself between what my teachers were trying to explain to me between 2004 and 2010 and what I can see be said today.

You had to be there when my university teacher of "sequence analysing" asked us to present and analyze the sequence of one of our most believed movie and something we find masterfull (thinking that would be talking about trendy indy movie)...

I let everyone present their stuff (indy movie stuff of course) and I started talking about the beautiful sequence of the discovery of the dino in Jurassic Park...

The look on his face. I felt like the room wanted me dead. :suresure:

I consider them auteurs too

Maybe auteur isn’t the best term but there is a clear difference between these movies and sometimes the line is blurred.

Joachim Trier Vs Kevin Feige MCU.

What is the mentioned above. Scott, Spielberg and all used to revolutionise movies at their beginning. And then chose to milk the cow

I would not call Kevin Feige an author for example. His productions ressembles more a formula than a real creative push. (which is telling since the Marvel movies who usually are the most praised are those who step out of these formulas).
List me the 5 best MCU movies.

For me it's just the stuff done by Waititi and Gunn. The rest is pure mediocrity. And that's mostly because of the punk vibe in them.

(I'm not familiar with the other)
He is this Scandi director who has gotten really famous with "the worst person in the world". If you want a lady to like you, just tell them you like his films and they will like you for your taste. It's not even specifically "for women" but there are reasons why there are so many women fan of this film and its director.

Finds out his child is black? how does this work😂
- Usually because his daughter or son stopped talking to them but for some reason they had no other choice to introduced them to their grand child (who is racialized).
- Or because for some reason he has to take care of a child that is not theirs.
- Or because they find out they one of they had an hidden child with a black woman and somehow the child decided to seek him out.

(I'm inventing stuff up here, but this is close to what we get in France).

For example, in France, when I was young, we had this:

The title says "An indian in town". It was the story of a man who discover that his ex wife had a boy with him and left to live with native people in south America. So the boy was raised in the native culture.

And of course it was a comedy where the point of the laugh was the clash of cultures between the business man father and the strange out of culture boy.

I loved this movie when I was young but OH MY GOSH this was a racist problematic mess.

omg this trailer is cursed :chopoff:

- Thunderbolts*
- The entire serie of the Guardians of the galaxy Starting with the first (I can't just put only one)
- Thor Ragnarock
- Fantastic Four
- And I guess I can put the first Avenger in there for the funzy (but I'm still waiting for a real worthy 5th place here)

Okay we can agree then. Although I haven't seen Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts because I stopped watching these films.

Avenger is meh though.

I'll check them, but I can't promise anything. I have a love/hate relationship with the direction of actors in France.. I was raised with the Actor Studios and hollywood, it's very hard for me to believe in a French movie when actors are playing like they are real persons.

It takes me out.

Thunderbolts* just spoke to me (you will understand why if you check it) and Fantastic Four was.. really good. especially on the pacing and the OST.

F4's OST is one of the best thing I've heard in years for an adventure movie.
Avenger is meh though.
It's more for the Nostalgia factor.

Is there really a thing that makes French actors bad ? French cinema cannot be summarized as "bad acting because there is no actors studio".

I didn't say "bad". It's just not my cup of tea. I don't really judge their acting on an objective basis. I completely get that people like this type of acting.

I just can't stand it. I feel to me like every actors is forcing reality to appear. It can be fun in comedy, but with other genre, I don't really like it.

Of course not the entire french cinema is like that. So I'll be checking what you shared! (I remember wanting to watch 120 battements par minutes)

"The Keep" (1983) - 2/5

Not that great to be honest, I heard that Michael Mann had like a 3 hour cut of this but studios cut it down. It's a mess, audio is sometimes normal other times very quiet.

The Main hook of the film is Nazi soliders occupy a small village in Romania and decide to enter a keep which houses a strange presence. The hook itself is interesting but its all over the place and definitely feels like large portions of the film were cut out.

That being said, the Soundtrack is actually pretty bloody great.
