Rocks was a family man. A man who loved his wife and children. Not a deadbeat dad unlike so many of the "heroes" in this damn manga. A man who loved his family and his friends. He shed tears when his friend Harald betrayed him. He went to god valley not for that bitch shakky, but to rescue his wife and children.

Because it was never found out to be. The Davy lineage with Rocks is secret apparently.
The only thing Garling found out was whatever he though was good for the WG (maybe Uranus), but it just also happens to be tied Blackbeard's D. Clan.

People acting like pirates need to be perfect and need to have a moral compass who need to save the world and resist the WG 
Roger going after pussy and fighting Xebec out of rivalry makes him 100x more a believable pirate than anyone. But still, this is young Roger, ofc he has room for character developments. This is just great writing.
