Oden in concept is a great character, but Oda portrayed him horribly.

Oden literally looked like a child amazed at a new toy when watching Newgate and Roger fight.

The only people to glaze Oden so far have been Kaido and Yamato. Scabbards are his followers, no shit they're gonna glaze him, but they're glazing him compared to other people in Wano. And Yamato is simply inspired by his story, she didn't glaze him as a top 5 fighter all time or some shit.

This is kind of my point though. Despite the fact that Newgate and Roger far surpass him in fame and strength, they still took time out of their days to blow him by calling him a brother (WB calls everyone else a mere son of his) and even Roger's crew quickly fell in love with him despite only spending around a year with him.

I think Buggy's Mom comes from the Secret Clown Tribe/Clown Island. The Buccaneers carried Nika's Will through Song/Dance, but, humor is also a huge part of Joy/Joy Boy.

I believe Buggy's Tribe, the Clown Tribe, fought against depression/despair through laughter/humor.

Roger regretted attacking Rocks, once he realized Rocks was trying to save his wife/kid on God Valley. Roger, despite being rougher than Luffy, is a good dude when it comes to women/children/animals:

Buggy the Clown = the key to Laugh Tale. Roger went to Clown Kingdom, to research their connection to Joy Boy/Nika and the Ancient Kingdom. The Clown Kingdom probably has knowledge of Laugh Tale, or at least vague hints about it.

Buggy's Mom died in grief over Rocks' death. To honor Rocks, Roger adopted Buggy, possibly due to Shanks befriending him as well.

Rock's Sons were raised by Newgate, his Nakama, and Roger, his Rival. Like Teach, Buggy is the odd-one-out of the Roger Pirates, who never felt like he was on Shanks' level, and abandoned his Captain's goals to chase personal power.

I think the Clown Tribe lives on/guards Lodestar, the last Island in the Grandline, that leads to Laugh Tale. The "Clowns" lead to Laugh Tale (also possible Buggy is straight up a child from Laugh Tale/the remnants of the Ancient Kingdom).

I think Rocks went to Lodestar first, and met Buggy's Mom there, then honked her: Roger returned to Lodestar after God Valley, possibly due to Rocks telling him about his other kid.

I think Kuma saved Teach, and Rocks possibly saw this happening (Kuma #1 Forever).

Rocks then tells Roger, as he's dying: "Roger... truth is... I have another kid... on Lodestar... with the Clown Tribe... I loved my wife, but... hah, her nose was so cute... - rocks is actually happy to go to GV, not to just save his family, he wants to murder the CDs and considers their kidnapping of shakky as their biggest mistake.

-> He was introduced as a character that people in Wano despised, a flat out delinquent, only a handful of people liked him
-> He was then hated again by people of Wano for the dancing shit
-> Whitebeard himself wasn't fking with him like that enough to take him on board from the get go, mans had to earn it

He died a hero because he sacrificed his life to protect Wano in his own way, thus people respected/liked him, on a tiny ass island and couple handful of people outside of that tiny ass island.

Name a person who didn't like Newgate? Even the people who went after his life had wet fantasies about Newgate, like Crocodile. Mihawk was creaming himself at the thought of just being able to fight Newgate. You had bum pirates like Buggy glazing up and down Newgate's pole before his actual introduction. Even Garp and Sengoku fked with Newgate, but stood against him due to him being a pirate. Ivankov in ID is glazing up Newgate. Jinbei couldn't get off his knees for Newgate... Akainu literally got turned into a moronic dumbfuck of an idiot, just so Newgate could have a "Badass ending" instead of getting beheaded by a magma fist.

Do we need to talk about Shanks?

I just think y'all are doing projection or rather adding on things that didn't exist. He was like as much as Harald is liked by pirates. Garp likes Harald, Sengoku likes Harald, Xebec likes Harald, Whitebeard likes Harald, his own people like Harald. His people liked Harald even when he was a fucked up asshole. Then other nations love Harald. Why is this criticism not applicable to Harald?

Oden is not the guy when it comes to "he was the coolest guy". Mans is one of the biggest failures in the series on a consistent basis and Oda made sure to write him that way in nearly every step of the way, until the very end with him fulfilling his role with the prophecy shit, which was arguably the only thing he actually succeeded in.

With all that said, if somebody finds him annoying, that's their right to. I'm simply talking about the writing being great for him, as somebody asked me why I think he's a great character.
