Take a moment to realize people that unironically got hyped for god valley and were making edgy predictions got slapped in the face with:
-pathetic gooner Roger
-everyone being gooner
-it being over shakky
-roger vs rocks having no relationship/rivalry, it's just roger being made about shakky
Roger is a full blown loser rn, the only saving grace I guess is Rayleigh is on that crew and he has a valid reason to go save Shakky. And Xebec turned out to be the goodest of guys but at least he had a bigger motive than simply Shakky to be there.

CoC: Color of Clowns

I Wish the Media the Most Painful Truths
Damn, I feel bad for suspecting Gloriosa of selling Shakky out, now: this is one of the most real displays of emotions Oda has drawn in a while, IMO, you can tell Gloriosa is heartbroken:

Wow, Garling is a true monster; this scene is before Garling killed the king, I believe, because the people hadn't been taken as slaves, yet, and the Marines hadn't arrived. Looks like Garling used the Abyss to come first. The man killed the mother of his children in front of them, then, a bit later, told them, "Children... watch this." Dude murdered the woman who was waiting for him to return, then had her kids watch him slaughter her home. That's nuts.

Also, we see that God Valley's town is legitimately in the middle of the two large mountains/split mountain.

Did some Swordsman cut God Valley in half in the past?

Knowing this series, there's a chance God Valley is named as such, because a Haki Emission from a Sword sliced the mountain in half, killing a "God" in the process to make the valley.

Man this chapter Rocks.

I'd imagine the gun Dragon is using was designed by Vegapunk, since it's a non-lethal-firearm. Nice nod, if it is, and sets up their future relationship.

If/When Dragon gets his Fruit here, he could possibly use Wind to spread the Sleep Gas around the island

Since the Marines are complicit in this, and considering Rocks history and connections to Davy D. Jones...

I'm guessing the official Marine reason God Valley was wiped out, is because of Poneglyphs/Void Century information.

If God Valley actually possessed Uranus, the WG could lie and state the people of God Valley had a Weapon of Mass Destruction/Ancient Weapon and that they were planning to use it.

Uranus existing on God Valley gives the WG/Marines a legit excuse as to why they killed the people: "Oh, they were terrorists against the WG, who were using Void Century Information to plot to destroy the World Government".

are you a descendant of Ask D. Question? Coz you got some nice questions there

This chapter is great. The set-up might appear long for those who wait week by week but a reread might not be that bad.

The God valley could have been a spin-off itself with more details. Dont think we will see full fights, it is still a flashback. We might see clashes and the conclusions like Harald vs Xebec.

And we still have to go back to Loki's flashback.
That lacks development. She was a pirate. Pretty much the only people who knew her beauty was the pirates and civilians she attacked. And the only ones who ever tried to do something against her were the pirates she went against.
The "Idol" chapter showed that Kuja pirates were seen like idols with Shakuyaku being the most popular (mountain of fan letters). They were at the height of their popularity, they have stalkers, their wanted posters fetched high price and Shakuyaku's picture worth a fortune.

Her introduction in the chapter was ridiculously insane with flowers wilted, birds losing their songs, people fighting among themself. When she became the Empress after the encounter with Roger's pirates, her popularity continued to grow to an unmanageable level.

With wanted poster, being an idol and journals, it is more than pirates and her victims that could see her. Even her retirement was making the news. Some people became pirates just to meet her and being attacked by her.

Oda kept showing how popular she was, it is just that some were in denial. It is the paradigm that Oda established for the people at that time. It is what it is.

Oda is incapable of this, if he were a competent writer it would be Gloriosa. There was actually a motive and even buildup for it. It's not really believable that Gloriosa isn't incredibly jealous of Shakky, the Kuja are as superficial as it gets, everything is about looks with them and Shakky her own underling not only completely overshadowed her, her crush Roger won't even look her way because of Shakky.

He just doesn't want to draw Gloriosa in such a manner because she's not ugly enough.

Old Gloriosa was nice and has good relations with Shakky still.
Why would you even expect it to be her?
