“By experiencing both victory and defeat, running away and shedding tears, a man will become a man. It's okay to cry, but you have to move on.” -Red-Haired Shanks

One of my favourite quotes of all time. Helped me a lot when I was much younger and dealing with extremely dark thoughts and tons of bully, isolation, racism and such.

I really love this one too by JinBAE:

"It may be hard right now… but you must silence those thoughts! Stop counting only those things that you have lost! What is gone, is gone! So ask yourself this: What is there… that still remains to you?!"

One Piece is full of amazing quotes and speeches though, Oda IS truly a master writer in that regard especially.

Another great song by Bon Jovi that fits here too:

Why, you wanna tell me how to live my life?
Who are you to tell me if it’s black or white?
Mama can you hear me? Try to understand.
Is innocence the difference between a boy and a man.
My daddy lived the lie, it’s just the price that he paid.
Sacrificed his life, just slavin’ away.

Ohhh, if there’s one thing I hang on to,
It gets me through the night.
I ain't gonna do what I don’t want to,
I'm gonna live my life.
Shining like a diamond, rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge, show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in my face,
I say, Have A Nice Day.

Take a look around you, nothing's what it seems
We’re living in a broken home of hopes and dreams,
Let me be the first to shake a helping hand.
Everybody, pray enough to take a stand,
I knocked on every door, on every dead end street,
Looking for forgiveness,
what’s left to believe?

Ohhh, if there’s one thing I hang on to,
It gets me through the night.
I ain't gonna do what I don’t want to,
I'm gonna live my life.
Shining like a diamond, rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge, show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in my face,
I say, Have A Nice Day.

When The world keeps trying, to drag me down,
I've gotta raise my hands, gonna stand my ground.
Well I say, Have A Nice Day.

This is a comment from the video too, I love it:

Could probably post a few others songs by them too. "Everyday" comes to mind for example.

“[the] Self does not need to be cultivated or developed. Beneath the surface of the protective parts of trauma survivors there exists an undamaged essence, a Self that is confident, curious, and calm, a Self that has been sheltered from destruction by the various protectors that have emerged in their efforts to ensure survival.”

Welcome to Team Fortress 2. After nine years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait. To listen to a commentary node, put your crosshair over the floating commentary symbol and press your primary fire. To stop a commentary node, put your crosshair over the rotating node and press your primary fire again. Some commentary nodes may take control of the game in order to show something to you. In these cases, simply press your primary fire again to stop the commentary. Please let me know what you think after you have had a chance to play. I can be reached at gaben@valvesoftware.com, and my favorite class is the Spy. Thanks, and have fun!

Thats amazing that you found something in Anime that helped you overcome the negativity in your early Life.. Animes in general can have such positive Messages. I believe before I ever watched One Piece at all, it was Pokemon for me. Of course as a child I didn't understand the Message at all, I was merely enjoying the Story and battles. but as I grew older it became clearer. One Scene in particular stack in my head forever.

In the original version it was a little different, but this dubbed version always stacked with me.

I believe that even some politicians quoted the Messages from the Pokémon Movies word for word later on. That was really crazy when I found out. There are some scenes of that on YouTube.

I'm happy to hear that about Pokemon

One Piece and Dragon Ball, and some other stuff like Half Life and Portal, had an extremely positive influence on me, as an abused kid, christianity with the truth, and anime with stories of getting stronger and overcoming had such an extremely positive influence on me that I don't know how it could be overstated

Matthew 13:31-32

31Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29That no flesh should glory in his presence.

.

Proverbs 24:16

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”

.

I learned so much and I keep learning so much month to month, I went from being pretty much the weakest kid in my class physically to, in some things, almost the peak of possible physical strength

When Gear 5 came out and Luffy had that gooey hair I saw it and cried right then

That's great that you pushed through. I grew up in an environment where bullying and all that stuff never occurred. At least not in the school I went to. It was a normal public state school like any other school out there. We played with yugioh cards in recess or watched anime after school together. Nowadays, no day passes when you don't hear of some school bullying ending in a tragedy. It's insane. I don't know what I would do as a parent if I had kids going through that.

But you are right about it. Learning new things every day is SUPER.

:fransuper:

Had a co-worker once who was 57 years old. He worked 2 years with us together and then he quit. 1 year later we learnt that he had started his own business. He was a physician half of his life and then got burned out. He committed himself to a job to learn to present himself, communicate better just in preparation. Later, he said he chose to work with us randomly, it didn't really matter to him where he ended up working. He set his goals, committed, and just did it. That was an eye-opener for me as well.

We often come up with alot of things in our heads to not do something. I catch myself on a daily basis.

:milaugh:

But then I just remember the good things that will come from fulfilling the tasks.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

.

A biblical reason for some suffering:

John 9:1-8

And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
