Character Discussion Garp is a fraud

When it was revealed Garp teamed up with Roger to defeat Xebec, most of the community assumed there must have been some secret behind GV. That Rocks must have been so evil, so dangerous, that it actually warranted Garp and Roger teaming up to fight a greater evil. After all, Garp and Roger are the good guys… right?

I think Oda subverted our expectations. From the looks of it Rocks, while brutal, is hardly more evil than any other pirate. At the end of the day, he didn’t go to GV to get an ancient weapon or execute some dastardly scheme. He went to defend his family.

There is legitimately nothing Oda could reasonably write that would make Rocks the villain of GV. While he was going to protect his family, the CDs were literally doing a genocide.

So why did Garp team up with Roger to fight Rocks? The answer is very simple. The CDs ordered him to. He was a marine and couldn’t disobey direct orders from a Gorosei or HK. The CDs clearly wanted Rocks gone. When he showed up in GV, Saturn probably took the opportunity to have him erased. He ordered Garp to focus on Rocks, instead of Roger.

It’s also possible the CDs threatened Dragon somehow to force Garp’s hand. But regardless, there was no noble reason for Garp to fight Rocks. He did it under CD orders, furthering their genocide of GV.

Even the idea of Rocks getting Domi reversi’d doesn’t really make sense because the CDs were happy that Garp killed him. Which makes no sense if Rocks was a pawn of Imu.

Ultimately I think it makes a lot of sense why Garp doesn’t like to talk about God Valley. His entire reputation is based off a lie. Garp wasn’t the hero of God Valley. Rocks was.

Garp was the man that killed God Valley’s defender and condemned the Davy clan to death.

I think Garp will eventually tell Koby about what he did and warn Koby not to make the same mistake he did. So when Koby is inevitably ordered to fight Luffy while the CDs are doing a genocide, Koby will do what Garp couldn’t in God Valley and stand up to the CDs.

Roger is cooked to be honest There is nothing he can really do that'll make him a greater figure than Xebec at this point.

Garp has always been a loser. GV will just cement that. This is the guy who presided over the execution of Ace.
Ace was failed by an entire generation of top tiers. Garp, Ray, Gaban and to some extent Shanks. Can you imagine what would happen if those three bums decided to actually decided to help WB.

Roger solo'd Xebec. And Garp has always ignored higher authority, so no.
Didn't solo shit.

. More than likely rocks went berserk and insane after seeing CDs killing his wife and roger/Garp had to stop him.

@The Legend
I think the one thing that could redeem Garp is if Rocks targeted Dragon and Garp had to step in to save his son.

Perhaps Dragon killed Rock’s wife, maybe by accident(she attacked him, and he shot her?), the rocks pirates then tried to kill Dragon. Garp was forced to defend his son. And Roger stepped in to defend Garp, as we know he saw Garp as a friend, plus hated Rocks.

Whitebeard wanted to have Ace let Teach go after he killed thatch lmfao.

Him going to war to save his family was retarded anyway, all he accomplished was a bunch of his weaker men dying for Ace's retarded ass, WB himself died like a retard, and Weevil went around hunting down the rest of his family while Marco twerks for Luffy

I honestly started losing respect for Garp after Marineford, and more so when he broke all protocols to save his apprentice but not his grandson, but I completely lost any interest in this bozo when we received our first glimpse of God Valley.

The man touts the Marines as this necessary force of Justice and violently insisted his "grandkids" join the organization, yet because Oda introduced the World Nobles, the WG and Marines now carry out far more evil on a triennial basis than all the world's pirates put together, and then he forced his own son to join the Marines only to participate in a genocide. No wonder Dragon became a rebel. And Garp kept bragging about not wanting to be promoted to Admiral so as to not be a Celestial Dragon lapdog, and yet he might as well be.

And don't get me started on how he basically led the Neptune Family up to Marie Gois with zero protection or warning despite knowing that the CDs have a slavery fetish for hot mermaids.

By now, I have more respect for Akainu than this bum, who at least has the balls to call out the Gorosei and the World Nobles, and didn't even reprimand Fujitora for freeing the World Nobles' slaves. Chadkainu is the true Hero of the Marines.

No wonder Kuzan didn't hold back against this bum.

I forgot about that one lmaooo

Someone seriously should've told Neptune to keep leave Shirahoshi back at home for Reverie. I wonder how often it happens when a member of an exotic race goes up to the Holy Land for Reverie as one of their kingdom's representatives only to end up getting enslaved because a CD wanted to complete their collection. Bucaneers, Mermaids, Kuja, the CDs have an obvious preference for slaves that aren't regular humans.
