The irony of this comparison, is that Big Mom and Kaido were actually taken down by the trio, so Oda clearly saw them as a replacement. The WBPs also saw Luffy as their torch carrier.

Luffy being a Monkey D. obviously draws parallels to Garp, but Garp is a Marine so it's a little harder. Maybe he will team up with Shanks to fight BB though, like Garp teamed up with Roger to fight Rox.

In what sense? Rox -> BB, and Roger -> Shanks, is well established.

The Worst Gen/Supernovas replacing the Yonkos is also pretty well established. What WB, Linlin, Kaido were at one point, is what Kid, Law, Luffy are.

I think Kidd is the new Captain John
But that depends on what happens to John in these next few chapters. I don't remember how he died but if he dies in God Valley somehow that may have a connection to Kidd in some way. Yknow, from the perspective of Doflamingo killing Rosinante and Law sort of getting revenge by being half of the effort that was needed to KO Doflamingo. Imagine that but with Kidd avenging Captain John by killing whoever took him down.
Although Oda doesn't always like to have characters get direct revenge, i.e Nami never got any direct revenge on Arlong and Carrot never successfully defeated Perospero. So who knows what'll happen
Maybe Kidd'll just join Teach.

What a reach and a half. Kidd is closer to Shiki than any of those individuals, literally nobody even comes close to being a Kaidou or BM parallel. Also Kaidou is like Linlin's little brother and nobody shares that dynamic in the LLK trio.

Luffy is a parallel to JoyBoy. Roger and Shanks were just holding down the fort.

Outside of BB and Shanks, the point wasn't the individual comparison, but that the Yonkos were in the same position as the Supernova are now. Basically young, hotheaded, frenemies who teamed up when it was relevant, but broke up when it wasn't and went their own way.

The Supernova/Worst Gen replacing the Yonkos was a theme that has been in the making since forever.

The point is whose will do they carry? Roger and Shanks represent pirates who "want to be free" like Luffy, but ultimately Luffy's eating the Gomu Gomu no Mi, differentiates them from Luffy, and what puts Luffy as JB's successor.

I believe captain john passed away after he was killed by his own crew, after god valley..something to do with his treasure...

Edit: Forgot to add, Kidd would never join BB. Maybe at most a temporary alliance to get Shanks, but Kidd would definitely have no respect for a character like BB.

I get that, this is why I brought up their dynamic. It's not even remotely similar to the WG trio. Kaidou is like a cabin boy, while WB is damn close to his prime, BM is in the middle. They are at different stages in not only their careers but also in strength. And this is clearly reflected in their interactions. WB might as well be the father figure for Kaidou.

Heck this isn't even a real trio to begin with since Shiki (and others on similar lvl) exist in that crew to begin with.

Eh, Oda has emphasized that trio over and over.

Obviously the age gap didn't make them as close in power as Law/Kid/Luffy, but it was Oda emphasizing the Yonko being frenemies.

Only diff is Blackbeard wasn't leading the Worst Gen like Rocks, for obvious reasons.
