So Blackbeard's mom survived and ran off to Lulusia... which means those early concept art pieces Oda drew of Blackbeard's mom and sisters for when Ace traveled to Lulusia could still become a legit part of the story.

But, wait, Teach seemed to have grown up without his mom. That's why he sailed with Whitebeard too, since he didn't really have a place to call home. He was just a street urchin.
So what happened to Eris in those like 10 or so years?

Maybe she tried to convince Teach to forget about revenge for Xebec's death, but Teach refused and went off to sea as a kid, hence those drawings Oda made of Teach crying alone at night, before he was eventually found by Whitebeard...

Or that Eris lost Teach during her escape from God Valley and Whitebeard found him and decided to raise him in memory of Xebec, knowing Eris would not survive if the government learned that she had Xebec's kid, probably labeling him as having 'demon blood', much like what almost happened with Portgas D. Rouge and Ace. :memehm:

I think most misunderstood their standing.

The HK were alwasy going to be the Holy Roppo. If you "accept" that, meaning they are third if not fourth lines of fighters meant to be the final opponents for Belo Betty, Karasu, etc. and Brook, Franky up to maybe Jinbe, with the added bonus of showing us how to deal with regen, everything falls in place.

I have been saying from the first moment they were the Toby Roppo of the WG and I have always felt ok about them because of this.
From Brook's FV It's clear I cannot expect anything vs old Gaban, for example.
I agree.

I just expected Garling to get better portrayal

True, and it's not the first time we saw a character with a loving parent try to join Pirates after all. Loki did the same, and so did Pedro.

Garling went on mission on GV and also try to get that nation to join the WG.
That is more than being mainly military knight that is politics and he was not even the head of the HK then .
He was on a separate mission that had him end up on GV. His mission was something else though, not getting GV to join the WG. Him making an offer with his CD influence is not the same as the Gorosei literally not having fighting in their jobs.

Yes they get send out to conquer countries but like said there more than a military force.
There the police of holy land , a army to conquer countries , people who can allow countries to become part of the WG which is politics .
They went to make a deal with elbaf before trying to take them over with force which is politics .
I see them more than a military force and i do think there weaker than the admirals but to me that another issue.
But we can agree to disagree.
The main job they have is to conquer small countries and deal with *threats* to Mariejois. That's them being a military force, they are literally again, Knights.
They went to make a deal with elbaf before trying to take them over with force which is politics .
.
What deal? They tried recruiting Loki sure, but that isn't politics, that's just trying to build up their strength. After that, they wanted to make the giants burn down their books, but again, this is pretty much an act of war.

I see them more than a military force and i do think there weaker than the admirals but to me that another issue.

They are a military force, consisting of CD's who have wealth and influence. But what makes them ultimately different from the average CD or Gorosei is that they fight people. They are the Holy knights, not Holy Diplomats.

But we can agree to disagree.
Fair enough
