Probably because Whitebeard was such a selfless bro to Xebec in the end. No wonder Whitebeard adopted Blackbeard too especially as he did adore Xebec after all, despite his tsundereness.
Whitebeard is such an amazing character and man. I hate him not helping Oden and being too calm about Xebec attacking Loki, but he's definitely like another Harald for Xebec but ride or die, way more loyal to the bitter end.
