I don’t ever want to hear about Law and Luffy’s so-called mickey mouse rivalry. Every old gen rivalry is portrayed the same as the Worstgen rivalry. They are the Roger and Rocks of this era.

We debated a lot if you said that WB would betray anyone would have to be drunk at the time.
You should know better lmao .

I think I said that he may have betrayed in the beginning, when we tought Rocks was completely different.
Back than there were lot of people who thought WB sided with Garp and Roger. But we are bascially talking about Wano times.

Even then, betrayed was a strong word.
It was never my choice anyway.

But now It doesn't really make any sense.

Oda didn't draw him using Roger's technique for nothing.

He is (or was, when he had 2 arms) essentially the character through which Oda can represent Roger's powerlevel.

Fights a certain someone in legendary battles (Newgates' words, not mine) and guess who is known worldwide as the strongest swordsman?

Even in Marineford, during WB's final flashback before his death, he was shown being a part of another crew. It was obvious he never started out as a captain, like Roger or Luffy.
If anyone was worthy of being his captain, Rocks is it. A character making even Roger look like a chump, that's eating top tiers for breakfast.

Lot of us knew about the WB/Zoro parallels back then as well. I had seen @HA001 pushing it since I joined the forum
It was just that Zoro is a polarizing character (for agenda reasons), who also got mistreated by Oda since post timeskip. That bringing out the parallels was seen as an insult to a (formerly) universally respected character, by many readers.
And lets not pretend like we don't know why admiral fans were big on WB lol.

As for why it's hype, I've already explained. It isn't just some shallow "side by side scaling". It's them facing the undisputed top 1 of the series, even when Rocks is practically asking him to escape and when WB has no dog in the fight other than pure honour. If you get it, you get it.....

Kuzan, being an exception, never made excuses about surroundings. He knows how to use his df. Of course, he is a pirate now under a yonko.
