I've been a bit skeptical of Teach lately. He might become an Obito-like character, but it's impossible for him to kill Imu and survive.
To kill Imu, you first have to defeat New Marineford and Akainu, then kill the Five Elders to get to Imu's body. No one but Luffy and his allies can get that far.

Also, unlike Rox, Teach killed a man who was like his father, while Rox didn't want to kill a bald man he accidentally befriended.

If Teach can kill Shanks, he'll never be a hero again.

Oda doesn't know what to do with him

The flashback is about Blackbeard and shanks, BM and Kaido aren’t important to the narrative. They were villains for one saga and their life and death had no greater meaning in the narrative
