Agenda wise, this is unironically the optimal way Oda can take Xebec away from the story instead of having Imu outright demolish him in an actual back and forth 1v1.

• He cuts Imu apart, unlimited regeneration kicks in
• Tanks the single attack aimed at him but is affected by its no limit fallacy hax due to lack of knowledge
• Will presumably take a gauntlet to bring down and likely waste strength trying to break through the mind control

Story wise? It's absolutely garbage.

I think the embarrassing part about this is how predictable it is.

The moment Oda portrayed Xebec as caring about his family literally everyone knew this would happen.
