If anything i think chapter also help Imu as the FV .
You have people saying BB is davy member and he plan this and that and will over throw Imu .
But this flashback show that things were not as simple as we think with Imu and VC.
Where there was joyboy , davy jones , Imu and 20 king ,lily and who know what else might pop up .

Oda respects Kaido too. Oda just makes the distinction that the GV version is basically fodder in comparison to big dogs (upper commander level at best). I don't think what happened to Kaido is intended as disrespect.
BM on the other hand.........KEK
Not sure Whitebeard fighting a powered up Rocks, and destroying part of the island in the process isn't hype. The version of Rocks that we are seeing is the strongest character in modern OP era, period. Who apparently hype tooled BM and Kaido at the same time. While Whitebeard just fights him lmao.
The Whitebeard moment with Rocks at the end of couple of chapters back is also definitely hype. Tho we have discussed that and disagree there lol.
Whitebeard not being hype tooled by Garp isn't a win, but it shows that Oda is deliberately making the distinction. He is willing to use BM for that.

As a writer Oda purpose is to show Imu as the big evil and portrayed it as the biggest enemy and perhaps also the strongest by FAR !!!

He picks 6 of the most relevant strongest ppl that the story has produced in the meantime and attack Imu in a combine attack, and show that it did no damage.....to show how powerful Imu is.
Shiki, Ray and Gaban must have far stronger move than GV Kaido weakass bolo breath and perhaps GV BM too, and logically make more sense if they replace them.
