He did, but moved on after he found his wife.

Also he was going to kill his family but Kuma saved them if we take the spoilers at face value.

Hes unable to break off Domi Reversi hence why hes asking Garp and Roger to kill him.

I just think some abilities need more haki use to cancel, while some are just cancels automaticly.
And BB haki is probably lower then Boa's so that doesn't say much.

But the real answer to this is probably Oda doesn't giving a shit about it and just writing what he thinks is cool at that moment.

It is a loss of aura for the world's strongest man and king of the seas who stood atop all the pirates and ruled in front of the throne. It would've preserved his aura way better if he was a leading player in that flashback, rather than the era revolving around Roger, Garp and Xebec as the three legends mentioned.

WB under Xebec kind of feels like Jinbei under Fisher Tiger. Not necessarily that much strength difference at the time but more so respect. And the underling later perhaps surpassed the former captain (who might have developed more if not for death but that we will never know).

Joy Boy is more relevant to the story than Davy Jones.
When Roger arrived at the Last Island, he said his name.
Even Teach, like everyone else, is looking for the treasure left behind by Joy Boy.
It's possible that Davy Jones, like Imu, came to Oda's mind midway through the story.
