I believe that MU is some entity from the First World.
In the second world, Davy Clan became usurpers and was really gone crazy, so Nerona freed MU and became Imu Nerona, then he rebelled against Davy clan and defeated Davy Jones. After that MU took over Nerona's mind and Nerona became different person and Joy Boy's enemy.

I'm not sure about that tbh. We shouldn't underestimate Oda just because he isn't always 100% consistent in his 30 years old manga. The WG was an early and fleshed out concept and I assume the WG was always supposed to be evil (especially with the atrocities displayed early on), so a secret leader behind the WG wasn't far fetched. Especially with the void century also being a central theme we could connect back to the WG.

Davy Jones is also a central figure in piracy lore, so he kinda had to be included.

I don't know, anything is possible
I could even consider Davy Jones being the King of the Seas in the first world, and Imû defeating him to become King of the World
However, the story could go either way
