Idk if it's just oda who is being inconsistent or there is something we are missing because IMU entire focus has been on Xebec whom he considers Davy Jones but there is also a pirate right there who is carrying Joyboy's hat and IMU just ignored him.

Roger didnt challenged Imu, so he doesnt care Xebec overd did it and paid the price for that.

If you’ll notice, Blackbeard actually has a ton of “fake” titles.

He was a Yonko Commander, but never actually loyal to Whitebeard and betrayed him when the time came.

He became a Shichibukai, but only to advance his goals and never intending on honoring the title.

He is called an “Admiral”, but he’s not a legit Admiral and more just a typical pirate fleet captain.

He’s a Yonko, but the title of Yonko is something he has no interest in or ever wanted.

Teach has had a ton of completely fake titles, his only real interest is being the King of the World.

Being a Pirate for Teach is just an extension. Teach doesn’t actually care about piracy or being a pirate, this is just a stepping stone for him to amass power.

So yes, Teach’s true calling is not as a pirate but as the King of the World. Davy Jones was probably the same, not a pirate at all but the King of the World.

Kaidou tanked Xebec’s sword attack — he probably tanked the slap/punch too. He doesn’t look knocked out to me.
Let me remind you that these attacks are much stronger than the ones Xebec used to kill an admiral.
The rookie Kaidou at 21 years old is getting a better portrayal — we can solidly say he’s stronger than an admiral.
