I feel so too. Koby and his bunch seem to be the new Garp and co but other than Kuzan the current Admirals seem very disconnected.
Dragon with Akainu seems to be the only link other than Garp.
Also, off topic but something else I've noticed is that Oda frequently hypes up pirates with World's Strongest X type titles, but never does this with Marines. Even Garp and Sengoku only have epithets like "The Buddha" and "The Fist/Hero of the Marines".
I don't think this is a strength indicator thing either since at least some of the Admirals and Garp especially should rival WB/Mihawk/Kaido easily, so it feels kinda like Oda writes/portrays them differently. What do you think?

I assumed that if Roger also used a gun too in combat that he probably named it "Ann" but since it really did turn out that he was just another dude who only used a sword I have to wonder where the name came from and why he was going to name his daughter that. I guess it really was just because it is sort of the female version of Ace
