I don't think any rivalries in Naruto are necessarily that close, tbh. Except for Sasuke and Naruto at the end I guess, but he's generally mid diffing him before that,which is pretty standard

I still strongly believe ACOC in Oda’s original drafts was meant to be an immortality counter.

ACOC as super armament wasn’t a thing until Oda realized he needed a way to take Kaido down and ACOA wasn’t believable.

I don't think oda thinks that ahead at all and improvises a lot imo. He creates things in real time. He retconned GV recently also.

I think he always planned for advanced levels of haki (especially after WCI) but I think ACOC specifically the way it’s done as super armament was an improvise in Wano.

Because now we’re learning advanced advanced CoC to hurt immortals in Elbaf but if you think about it, the story would have made so much more sense if now advanced CoC were introduced.

The original thought process was probably:
WCI -> ACOO
Wano -> ACOA
Elbaf -> ACOC (where ACOC is specifically an immortality counter)

But instead we got
WCI -> ACOO
Wano -> ACOA + ACOC
Elbaf -> AACOC

Which feels weird

Yeah I think Oda mid battle was literally thinking “fuck this doesn’t feel like enough to take down Kaido uhhhh you can coat with Conqeurors too I guess.”

People say the Roger WB clash in the Oden flashback was evidence of ACOC but that could also have literally been ACOA too at the time.

ACOC was always going to exist in some way, but as armament 2.0? I’m skeptical
