It's just how life is. The way I used to consume anime when I was 18 and now is Heaven and Earth. Headphones on, taking in all the info not missing even a second of it.
Now I prefer watching shows in dub so I don't have to look at the tv screen when I eat 😂. You take entertainment too seriously when you're younger, whereas when you're hitting 30 you just want something that'll entertain you for a few mins while you clock out of that 9-5.
Like I never understood why people loved dbz as much as they did when I was in my late teens early twenties, "it's not even well written" is what I would think, when really all it boils down to is it's cool and that's enough. Ofcourse I started with Dragonball, loved it as a kid, but then you have that phase where it's too shallow and you crave something better when you get a taste of better writing, but then things come full circle and you just enjoy the little things.
Nothing wrong with it either, that's just life. You look/care for different things at different stages of your life.
