The issue here is social. It's not about the story, it's not about media literacy. It's about a social movement of edgy toxicity that overtook the space of niche places of this fanbase. Creating of form of implicit gatekeeping of intense and positive or healthy One Piece discussions. This is why you have a difference between the opinion on twitter and why this place is slowly dying. It's not fun to love here.

It's really hard to put a numeric value on manga. Like are we talking about popularity, sales, recognition value, influential value, adherence to principles of structure and plot, enjoyment, etc. I would probably have a different #1 for each of those.

I'm still optimistic that One Piece will finish strong, and I'll probably end up giving it a 9 once it's all over.
