Harald has the worse case of tunnel vison i've ever seen, he's was so focused on trying to atone for the sins of the giants that he doesn't realize he's esstienitaly putting them under the thumb of the devil.
The world government is more than just the CDs. It’s hundreds of countries that can offer Elbaf goods and aid through trade that he can never get without joining.

Even the Fishman chose to join despite hundreds of years of enslavement.

The reason this is a navy upscale is less to do with the number of soldiers and more so the sheer number of ships the navy can bring to bear.

Just 10 ships can buster call an island (100 at Egghead), one warship (50 at MF like 20 at Egghead) has sea stone reinforcement and comparable firepower to a Pacifista.

Millions of soldiers implies that the Navy could mobilize thousands of ships which is enough to destroy hundreds and hundreds of
islands.

Like the WG could obliterate Wano and Tottoland without even needing to make landfall.
If they went all out like you're saying then yes, problem comes when you bring 100 ships to destroy Wano and Kaido comes out in Dragon form and destroys the entire fleet.

In theory, the marines can do that. But fighting a whole ass yonko crew means sacrificing a lot of recources.

In your heart of hearts can you say you are honeslty satisfied with the ending of god Valley? If the answer is anything but a yes, you've been let down. This was hyped for the past 6 years and all we got was some generic clash and top tiers standing around twiddling their thumbs during a supposed battle royale. Not to mention the complete lack of story continuity. Gaban did not even see Sommers but somehow was shook with Gaban saying its been a while? Like what?

Is this supposed to be indifference, or resignation?

Seems like a really odd reaction to his only son telling him he despises him - would've been great to see more, but whatever I guess.
:seriously:
I think Garp has already realized at this point that there’s really nothing else he can say

Dragon is justified in the way he feels

A rookie marine that Garp probably knows has a strong sense of justice being sent to an island where innocent people are being murdered. What can Garp say to defend this organization that he encouraged his son to join

Garp is staying with decades in the Marine under his belt

Dragon isn’t anywhere close to as dedicated to the same cause as Garp at this point

Illegitimate expectations (let's not forget that we are in a flashback, this person is complaining that a simili war - in a flashback - that destroyed - VISUALLY - the entire island with incredible feet of power .... was not epic enough)

I understand the idea behind it, but the thing is the giants have the strength to defend themselves, fishmen don't diplomacy is the only way for fishmen to survive, Harald wants to bring giants into a more modern time where they are no longer the war mongers they once wore, but we saw ij the beginning of the flashback other nations were willing to help elbaf and offered aid to them, he doesn't need to join the wg to show the giants have changed he can do that through actions and having meetings with the other nations
