Chapter Discussion FINAL VEREDICT on God Valley Incident

How little Rocks' crew, Roger's crew and the HK did was the most disappointing aspect of God Valley. Some skirmishes between them would have been great. Especially Gaban and Rayleigh should have done much more, this makes me really worried about Zoro and Sanji role in the final saga.

HKs:
I didn't really like how everyone was able to hurt immortals even before facing one, it was supposed to be something special. It kind of diminishes Luffy's performance during Egghead. Garling finding out where the remaining Davies were was way too convenient, hopefully this point will be explored some more. Sommers did great, I love him even more now. A pity Gaban vs Sommers didn't happen.

Rocks crew:
The strongest pirate crew ever fell apart for no reason. At some point, even before Rocks lost his mind, they decided treasures were all they cared about and then departed from the island. I'd have preferred if they started fleeing because of Rocks and/or because the HK started killing some of them. John, Gil, Silver Axe and Wanzui () should have died on GV imo.

I liked the Shakky/Rayleigh plotline, Ochoku included, and domi reversed Rocks was the right choice. Rocks wasn't ready to face Imu, things happen. Garp and Roger finishers was lame and uninspired though.

At long last Dragon became an actual character, I loved his journey and how little he did, he is a brave kid with a rifle not whatever CL²⁴Oda is turning Coby into.

As I said 2 and 1 star never happened for entire plot point butvery short moments. For ex, ⭐ ⭐ > Happened when Nami was aggressed by Absalom in the shower ⭐ > The representation of Queers in Kamabaka Queendom, but I'm softer on that now. ⭐⭐⭐ > Happened with PARTS (only parts) of F.Island when I was disagreeing with Oda's message. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ > Would less liked Arcs..



Basically, One Piece for me is always between ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ . There is almost nothing that is not "fun" for me in OP. I was reading it when I was 12 the same way that I read chapters now. Everything disappear and I'm a kid again. I hold very little expectations outside of the story and I'm letting myself be surprised by everything even when I have a major agenda, I don't get fazed.



The Rocks crew was never Newgate's family. I don't know why you guyz are seeking a resistance from Whitebeard where there shouldn't be one. Whitebeard saw Xebec attack him, with the pattern of the crew and the fact that he probably never trusted him, he fought back and dipped, that's logical. You could question why he didn't question but as I said, character are human, not machine, they make errors.



Yup, that would be true a lot of times. BUt expectations and bad reading environment is also at play. Althought it is really funny to me that you guyz are treating God valley like an arc when in reality it was never teased like it and it's part of a flashback. Thus any kind of expectations related to a potential arc treatment has no value here. I mean look at that: >>




When something meant to be funny (Big Mom and Kaido's debt) > and IS funny.. becomes disliked because it doesn't met the expectations of someone who for some reason wanted to see a lot of drama... then the problem is not the story, but the reading experience that is corrupted by the invention of headcanons. (and I'm not going over the entire list, it's everywhere for other reasons)

I mean at this point, you guyz are completely compromising and corrupting your reading experience by either a bad environment, a missplaced edgyness, a bad analysis (like here, if you analyze an inspiration like this then you can literally trash on the entirety of Storytelling in existence), bad or illegitimate expectations, complete lack of understanding.. Well trust me that if you don't better your reading experience and stop saying or expecting BS, you will think it's trash. But if that's the case, the door is open, I suggest for you to quit now.

For Whitebeard to forgive Squard despite that, yet not forgive Xebec, is so asinine to me. It's not even that he thought Xebec was a bad person to them most of the time, but it's the fact that they were chummy with eachother just 10 minutes ago in verse and now he suddenly hates Xebec and thinks Xebec sees him as nothing but a nuisance. He acted like he just never had any connection to Xebec after he attacked him when he was VERY CLEARLY POSSESSED BY IMU. Whitebeard SAW HIM GET STABBED BY IMU AND TURNED INTO A GIANT FLYING DEMON AND DID NOTHING!!!

Not saying every criticism is valid. But fan criticism is born from a passion for the story and calling it out when it’s not held to the standard the author once set for himself.

Of course Oda isn’t going to meet the expectations of a bunch of brainless people.

Them: Kaidou is going to get one-shot by Xebec, Kaidou is going to get one-shot by Roger, Kaidou is going to get one-shot by Imu.
Result: Kaidou didn’t get one-shot by anyone, he tanked the Demon Xebec’s attacks like they were nothing and walked away laughing with one of the most powerful DFS in existence.

Yup, legitimate criticism can be made with OP. I did it above. But what I see here is no legitimate criticism, it's mob trashing. A social phenomenon of hate where problems are either invented or blown out of proportion, that will only be able to stop if there someone push the "stop" button. I mean, the fact that we are talking about a SIDE plot in a flashback like an arc should be telling enough.

I agree, we also don't know if some additional conversation happened between WB and Rocks, but yeah, people shouldn't act like the Rocks crew was built on trust and loyalty, they're with Rocks until it doesn't help them achieve their own goals.

Btw if I have to give one ⭐ to something from One Piece, I'd give it to people constantly surviving impossible injuries, Pell tanking a giga bomb is crazy...

Honestly 2/10 due to it not meeting my expectations at all. Barely any fights among legends. The combined attack against imu looked mid.

Garp and roger vs xebec was okayish and not bad but nothing great either.

Roger looked nothing special nor did he separated himself from others like garp or WB.

I like the way oda wrote waido though and thats all. This was his chance to show case prime ray , gaban , shiki , garling going all out but he ddin't even come close to it.
