Don't forget this.
Oda has done plenty to separate Kaidou from Big Mom even portrayal wise when he needs to. Like I said earlier. We have to draw the line somewhere, in the grand scheme sure BM = Kaidou but in the details it is very clear Kaidou is significantly stronger and this goes beyond feats. The feats are backed by statements, hype, portrayal.

No, but having priorities isn´t an issue? They had Ace as a hostage, so the marines didn´t have to worry about WB trying to large scale damage to the island, but now they do. He just wanted to focus on that after they lost Ace, which isn´t crazy unreasonable?

Not really wrong, but in Odas´s mind being old means you can be badass, but not in a leadership role. Look at the Gorosei, they may be strongish, but they almost never have real presence as leaders and they seat sometimes too. Sengoku ultimately steps down after the war because of this, but you have to at least give him some credit for stopping Blackbeard from sinking the island. You have a pretty simple:
Akainu vs WBP
Sengoku vs BBP(before Garp steps in).

And younger, admiral Sengoku wasn´t like he is as a FA we pretty much know that for a fact, seeing how he chased Shiki and Roger around. He was also pretty calm when Shiki killed all the marines in front of him and Garp. Would you be shocked if, by EOS, you have Akainu also being kind of stationary and freaking out during a war, while Aramaki, Kizaru and Fujitora arent?
