A creators pet is imo someone who gets alot screentime/char development/arc despite not feeding into the greaters story/ending
The most one who fits that bill is shikamaru, given how he is non relevant for the overall plot of naruto on pretty much all aspect consiering the ending but how much time/dedication he gets from Kishi
I get where people saying stuff like sasuke coming from but sasuke is the deuteragnist of Naruto (an actual one, not the scholar version). Like kishi obviously likes him but i never felt its forced.
Again this has nothing to do with glazing abilities no one is gonna say hiruzen is kishis favorite because he told he was the le strongest or some shit

epic so he has shittier sleeping schedule than sasuke
They have a point, though. It´s pretty rare for Sasuke to be treated as the deuteragonist with lesser significance to Naruto, as opposed to someone of equal significance to Naruto, or probably even more significance. The only exception is maybe some part 1 stuff

Right but that its kinda my point, the whole thing builds up to that essentialy right? Like the whole cycle of hate, incernations cycle, how kaguya gets defeated, forgiving, being "friends" with your enemy and so on.
Thats all things that sasuke goes through (like naruto), that servers a purpouse. When i reread naruto i never went "why did kishimoto put that in the manga this is just glazing!"
Which does not apply for the whole shikamaru interquel stuff, that also kinda happened in part 1 and doesnt anywhere go in the story if you think about it from a grandscheme
Which is different than lets say the Kakashi gaiden stuff for obvious reasons

You have an entire villain who´s entire goal is to take Sasuke´s body to cure his depression(Kabuto), other villains like Orochimaru who just stops being evil because it´s what Sasuke would want,Obito spending time trying to groom him for no real plot relevant reasons, an entire team of Sasuke fanboys(taka), and the entire second half of the manga being dedicated to Naruto deciding that stopping Sasuke from being evil, because he´s convinced it´s a requirement for him being Hokage(?) as opposed to anything else concerning his village, and you don´t think any of that is forced lol?

Not really everything from Sasuke having his own scuffed team 7 or Obito wanting him for use a tool for war and so on are actually pretty fitting and leading somewhere. But i have no intentions to convincing you otherwise, like i said if i reread naruto there is not a a arc/scene with Sasuke where i think "this is here just because Kishimoto forcefully included him here"

Why would that not apply to Shikamaru lol? What scenes are you seeing him in where he feels out of place? You could pretty much argue any character fits in a narrative if you accept the premises of the story

How does shikamarus "i better give up if the opponent is too strong" or "oh yeah i got revenge on the zombie man and entombed him into a hole, thats was definitly the right thing and now everything is well in the world" feed into any of the main themes conveyed at the end of naruto?
This was done intentionally. To show that being able to recognize that at some times, chunin and Jonin, or expert Ninja need to know when to give up, and Shikamaru is viewed really positively for this, even though his intentions aren´t necessarily good faith.

Is your point that Shikamaru ¨killed¨ Hidan instead of trying to redeem him, so therefore it´s inconsistent with the rest of Naruto? Meh, redemption only applies if you have a sad backstory, that really sticks out. Ultimately, no one tried to redeem Madara, nor Kaguya, and Konoha is never turned into a peaceful civilian village or demilitarized or something. The main theme of Shikamaru in part 2 is building up the idea that the young people will have to step up for the future of Konoha, he actually explains this to Naruto after Jiraiya died.

Not sure why I came off that way, but it wasn´t my intent. I´m not mad or anything
Party, there is more to it like that he got that screentime out of nowhere and a pretty dedicated arc to him
Like did sasuke get more focus in part 2 than part 1? Sure. Was the manga pretty much about naruto and sasuke in part 1 still? absolutely. Like it was not that much like people pretending about/ignoring that part 1 still had alot of world building to etablish since it was new
Again, if i give in "creators pet" into google no definition is applying to Sasuke
Sasuke was never randomly inserted into something forcefully that make me go "huh"
Depends, Shikamaru had a lot of focus, but the arc was really just about Konoha vs the Akatsuki, with a lot of focus being given to Naruto and his growth at that point, which is funnily enough treated as him getting closer to bringing Sasuke back, very explicitly. And as Zenzu pointed out, apperently the arc was ended earlier because his editors wanted to go back to focusing on Sasuke and his plot, which ultimately leads to a pretty major Akastuki member blowing himself because Sasuke made him that mad, lol. In comparison, I don´t see why Shikamaru would come across out of place in comparison, fighting the Akatsuki that´s attacking his own village.
The point is not what could have happened based on their power levels, it´s based on what actually happened in the story, both of them on the floor, knocked out, having lost an arm, bleeding out and needing Sakuras help. Meanwhile, Sasuke has an actual victory over Naruto. It just speaks to how Kishi views the two characters, he was never really comfortable with having Naruto get W´s over Sasuke too much, just not how he wanted to right the story, with him clearly having a bit of favoritism towards Sasuke.

Perhaps, but the obsession some characters ended up having with Sasuke was a bit too much. I think that´s pretty obvious

Yeah like moral victory shit. Not in the actual fight, lol. And it´s not even like Sasuke gave up on revenge because of anything Naruto told him, it was because of Itachi and the Hokage really. He just decided Naruto would be a better choice for Hokage at that point.

What was stopping Naruto from choking Sasuke or smashing his head with a rock or something when he woke up first? And again, Sasuke conveniently had the Bijuu around as a massive chakra battery, something he wouldn’t have in a neutral setting.
Remember when Sasuke got salty because Rasengan did way more damage to the water tanks than his Chidori? That proved that Naruto would’ve won there had Kakashi not interrupted
Depends, I´m pretty sure Naruto couldn´t physically move. Still, if Kishi wanted to, he could have created something symbolic with Naruto getting up first or whatever. I guess you could say him waking up first is that, but it´s a bit too vague in my opinion.

Sure, but that´s not the same as actually winning. It´s true that Sasuke felt insecure about Narutos power and growth in the later half of part 1, but when they actually did fight, he still won(Sasuke used Orochimarus powers, but Naruto used the nine tails, it´s about as ¨fair¨ as it can get with those two)
By its very nature bringing them back undervalues their deaths, I think Kishi understood that quite well. It’s why all the Edo Tensei who had sentimental deaths were given respectful endings during the war arc.
Zabuza, Haku, Nagato, Asuma & Itachi all come to mind.
And I think Kishi knew that Jiraiya coming back would never reach the same peaks and would only downgrade character.
I remember during Zabuza’s death that Kishi made it a question of if he would go to the same place as Haku or not. I forget the details, but I would assume that question was answered when they were brought back? One more reason to hate Kishi bringing those two back for some dumb fanservice
