Just watched the new Running Man and Now You See Me films. Wicked fun films, cheered me up a lot. Just simple great action, style, charisma, humour, acting and plot twists.
Quite a sad moment in NSYM3 though, completely understandable why they did it but still pretty sad. Huge spoiler for the franchise too but loved the ending and sequel hook.
I love when movies aren't afraid to have fun and not take themselves far too seriously. Life is miserable enough as it is.
Amazing movie that is a mix of heartfelt moments, hard moments and the harsh cruelty of what psychatric hospitals were for a long time with the monotony and often abuse and tortures inflicted on the patients. A mix of humanity and drama.
Jack Nicholson delivers one of the best acting performances of all times, being at the same time a scumbag and a very human character who cares for his fellow patients and treats them far more humanly and does more for their mental health than the institution supposed to help them.
Louise Fletcher is diabolical as Nurse Ratchet, one of the most hateable and realistic villains in cinema history as a stone hearted, manipulative, tyrannical and sadistic nurse who cares far more about her control over her patients and enjoying their pain than helping them.
The other inmates, played other amazing actors such as Will Sampson, Christopher Loyd, Brad Dourif, or Sydney L'association also deliver incredible performances and makes it very easy to pity and sympathize with them.
The movie has some iconic scenes such as the moment when Jack Nicholson imitates a baseball game for his fellow inmates, showing the power of imagination even in a terrible environment, or the fishing boat scene, and the various therapies.
Arco, a french animated movie about a kid from the long future going into the past, arriving in a period of time closer to ours but still in the future where robots are levitating vehicles are common, with him meeting and befriending a girl who'll try to help him return to the future.
Very beautiful animation and music, the characters may be classical kids and adults archetypes but they work well and are attaching, even the trio of brothers who looked like antagonists at first but turn out to be nice, and the robot Mikki is very human as well. The inspiration from the Ghibli studio animated movies is very visible.
Just watched Zootopia 2, absolutely hilarious, spectacular, amazing, emotional and very, very fun.
Proper sweet, feel good ending too.
Way better than I expected. Feels like a Disney renaissance again finally, if they can maintain these incredible standards.
Really glad I gave it a chance. Really loved the returning side characters getting more involvement and screentime. Shakira character actually kicks ass, almost as much as Judy does, but Patrick Warburtons character is pure gold too. He's like good timeline Bojack Horseman and he had an epic moment near the end where I laughed my ass off and enjoyed his big redemption too.
The marshland district was brilliant, so many countless good jokes, beautiful drsign and scenery, really eccentric characters etc.
They managed to really humanise snakes, make them empathic, badass, funny, cute etc too.
Feels nice to enjoy a Disney film this much again since I was a kid. Love the sequel hook too. (We need that Australia theme! Kangaroo or Kookaburra villain maybe? Or even a gator/Croc? A cassowary or emu has potential lmao or even Imu).
Going to see FNAF 2 on Sunday, cant fucking wait too.

Right?! I had high hopes after I saw your glowing feedback here and I'm glad I can completely agree with it too.
I went into the film blind not having watched Zooptopia 1 but I really liked Gary De' Snake and I was pleasantly surprised to see Ke Huy Quan in the ending credited as his voice. Always nice to see a fellow Viet doing well...
I hope they do a Zooptopia 3 but maybe not a 9 year wait lol
Ip Man 2
A downgrade of the original. The British actors and their characters have aome of the most pathetic acting performances I have ever seen and I watched Squid Game.
The fights themselves are mostly good but lack what made Ip Man 1 so special - there the fights had a thematic weight to them. Each fight told its own story.
Ip Man 2 tries to up the ante and it is evident most in the Fish Market fight. Really out of place with the amount of foes Ip and his student need to contend with.
Ip vs the masters on the other hand felt more in line with the vibe of the original movie.
All in all, if this is the direction it has headed, I'll not continue with the series.
