The WG and this immortality bs really is getting annoying. Round them all up in one line including Imu and let our Lord MU handle it in one shot.
Based on how stationary Imu is shown to be, his ass is getting one tapped by Jinton for sure.

The way you describe it reminds me of Irys from the Heisei Gamera series.
Basically there was this girl whose parents were killed as a result of collateral damage while Gamera was fighting Gyaos and she grew to hate him as a result.
She found a baby Irys as a child and raised him as her closest companion. He grew to immense size and power and became Gamera's nemesis. It was theorized that he was a Guardian of the North or some such.
Maybe that's Imu's origin and story. He was some demon or creature who was found and raised by Nefertari, who may have hated Joyboy for some misguided reason.
Hence his obsession with Vivi who reminds him of his only true friend maybe.

He called Shanks a great pirate after he called him a coward, he even said to Luffy that he was joking. Maybe they had a difference in objective when they met and Loki ressents him.
Maybe shank chained up loki cause loki was tryna go to marie joa solo to get revenge. shank knew he would get negged. So he chained up loki till the reincarnation of the pirate jesus could come and unlock loki and take him to the final fight
There's the theory that shank has been gate keeping the one piece. Maybe he's gatekeeping the fight against imu.

It is possible that Loki was going to do something really stupid like attack the WG or something and Shanks stopped him, they fought. One was defeated. This would explain the ressentment, calling him a coward and all but still keeping some sort of respect for him by calling him a great pirate.
