So the ability to imbue a weapon with the power of a devil fruit was discovered before Vegapunk's research on the subject...
Well, there's a lab here on Elbaf that's super old with an even bigger Emeth. Kind of feels like a proverbial elephant in the room with how unadvanced Elbaf is technologically.

The more I think about it, the more I like Loki having Nidhogg idea. As the Giants of Elbafs are designed after vikings, what could be a better devil fruit than the ultimate monster of norse mythology? The arrival of Nidhogg marks the beginning of Ragnarok, which parallels the approaching final battle in One Piece. Instead of being a mindless force of destruction, Oda could take some inspiration from Eastern Dragons or games like Skyrim to portray Nidhogg as a revered, God-like character among the Galleila crew.
Dragons in the Elder Scrolls setting are violent, prideful assholes. It's only really Paarthunax who tried not to keep oppressing humans.

@Paperchampion23 The fact that DF users can wield DF weapons feels kinda world breaking tbh. Why aren’t more DF users doing that? Why not imbue your clothes with DF powers?
Well, the first examples we saw were the dog-gun and elephant-sword. And neither user of them were very good with them. So it's useful, but like any weapon, it needs a good wielder who knows how to use it.

This is the first time we’re seeing a DF user wielding a DF-imbued weapon though
Sure, but even if they made Mr. 4 and Spandam's weapons in Loki's size, he still would get more out of them as he is a better fighter, compared to say...Spandam having his power.

That said, I think Shiryu getting a snake zoan for his sword would be a good parallel to Magellan and his Hydra.
