It's pretty clear at this point: Gaban has essentially become Shanks's new mentor figure in the post-Roger era. Oda's writing makes it seem like he can't even make this old legend look bad, even when he technically takes an "L" in a fight. You've gotta hand it to Sanji fans; with a legacy character tied to their favorite like this, they really hit the jackpot.
