I would've preferred had Kishi used Orochimaru like nine tails was used in the Pain fight. Itachi washes Sasuke hard in the beginning, then Orochi comes out and has a decent battle with Itachi showing us the limits off his power, and after that Sasuke comes back for a final round.

The Itachi glaze would be unchanged. Orochimaru just gets something.

My headcanon so far ist you probably need a critical mass on haki to severe the connection between the opponent and the abyss

If the OPP has COC he can use defensive however the connection is harder to severe because even if you have better haki than your opp a certain amount of the attack gets diminished

So that's why only a big Kamehameha haki can truely go for the kill shot. This is also not something you would do in a real right so it's something you need to figure out. This also makes sense that despite gabs previosly fighting his but not knowing now

It would make sense that CoC user with with regen will be harder to fight and you need more haki or what ever else.

It’s criminal how less we saw of Totsuka and Yata lol. Now every discussion related to them is either them being NLF’d to heaven or being downplayed for lack of feats (especially Yata).

Anyways, I don’t think Kishi would have ever gone that route because I think he was clear that Itachi was well above Sannin level lol.

(Part of me thanks it didn’t happen because shameless Fodderaiya stans somehow put Jiraiya > Itachi DESPITE how badly Itachi humiliated his superior. God knows what they’d do if Itachi struggled against Orochimaru)
