I'm talking specifically about the writing, like the context of OP post. From what I know, no other animanga characters got a lot of details like Oda did for Sanji. For example, a backstory, myth, and a comic strip just for a mere Sanji's lighter. I also don't see someone's attack names & techniques related to his job, name, dreams, history, etc.

They could. Oda being 10/10 compared to other mangaka doesn't make him #1, nor other mangaka aren't allowed to be 10/10 too. For me personally, Adachi is also a 10/10.

Maybe you just need to see more mangas

One Piece's adapts to the reader.

If you don't use your empathy or if you don't care to look and think beyond the pages. Oda will tell you the basic story. You will love the strong moments, perhaps you will even feel that there is greatness in the story in some ways, you might feel the few moments where the intentions of Oda is too enormous to be subtle... but chances are you will not understand everything and you will probably find some developments... odd.

Now.. if you read with care and empathy and if you read actively and not just passively, Oda will unlock the full potential of his story and you will see the underworld of One Piece... something most fan are missing.

For this reason, Oda is a masterfull character writer. But he can also be a bad one depending on your reading experience.

Oda can't develop characters for shit. He's really good at character writing when he's able to do an entire beginning to end product, a finished character, which is why he excels at flashbacks. He's not able to write dynamic characters growing slowly with the story, his characters are static af.

Oda does not fully focus on characters but the tropes behind it, so he won't give more to a character than what he has decided for.

Oda should’ve introduced some other world class swordsman to train Zoro. Tbh I can’t take Zoro vs Mihawk that seriously anymore, there’s no stakes to it now
