However, when it comes to the fighting these villains, Orochi will not require an extraordinarily big effort to be taken down if he is still alive and therefore isn't one of the main villains in that sense.
Don't make these faulty comparisons where you mix around context.

It's not a narrative thing, the context in which it's said matters. He can be a main villain in one context but not in the other.

I give a like for your effort but zoro not fighting a Calamity will be a bad writing by Oda.
All the main fighters have already faced once a yonkou commander lvl, everyone except one : Zoro. How long do you think Oda is gonna remove Zoro from facing a Sweet Commanders or Calamities ? He never had a clash, even against Doffy a solid yc lvl, Fujitora a top tier came to stop Zoro.

But i understand that it will be dumb to see Zoro taking 1 vs 1 King and after that Kaido.
The only solution is letting Zoro defeats King and Zoro comes to give the final blow (not a big fan of the ZKK, but just one attack like Shishisonson) and it will fulfill his promise to yasu.

But i agree with one thing, Oda gave too much hints for Zoro vs Kaido. If it doesn't happen, i don't care but it means Oda just made all of this for nothing, it will be such a waste of his talent.

It's all up to Oda how he chooses to balance things out. What he's hinted to is the final result, but not the entire path there.
What Oda has shown us so far is that if Luffy, Zoro, and Kidd go straight on and decide to go fight the main fighters, they will not even last for the Kaido fight.
He showed this by having them getting damaged by Apoo, and ever since, they have been taking their low damage paths.

Zoro and Kidd/Killer are being kept away by having to fight gifters.
Luffy was prevented from having an actual fight against Ulti and Page One thanks to Yamato and has been running around ever since.

It's now 988 and we're presented with the dilemma of Big Mom. Does Big Mom get stalled by the Straw Hats ?
If she is stalled, how do we keep Luffy away from Kaido without him getting damaged heavily ?
How long do the fighters get stalled for and how long are the minks going to last ?

These are all questions Oda will most likely answer within the next 3 or 4 chapters.

Orochi as a villian thus far has been fantastic. I feel when odens flashback is done he could well be near the top of the list.
