My last Chunin shot I used last nightphase is to downgrade the attack I take from one grade. For example, if the target of my protect took a wound, it would downgrade to nothing. Maybe that's why I wasn't wounded by Hayumi. But that absolutely doesn't explain why I got no ability destroyed.

Or that Chunin shot went to Shanks instead and you protected him again ;-; . Actually makes sense now. Shanks has nothing to my knowledge that isn’t innate and can be destroyed anyway?

Yeah, Shanks only has innate Passives, so if you targeted him instead of you then nothing could have been destroyed.

Shu‘s story seems to add up with Hayumi‘s and Polar‘s.
