It's not complicated. Sandman is a Japanese speaker who does good work of trying to bridge gaps between Japanese and English, and also offering his own interpretations.

His interpretation of Zoro's line last chapter is no less valid than his interpretation of Mihawks measuring the distance line at MF. They're both just his *opinions*, which shouldn't be taken as fact.
