Oh you are right. I forgot them for a moment, I focused too much on the boy and the wife.
They most probably died. They were out after the domi reversi meaning that they were possessed probably after being completely beaten up and since the island was sunk, they are gone. (or Xebec killed them, which is also a possibility since characters, diegetically, don't seem to notice very clearly the change of behaviors.)

This hellscape is doomned anyway with at least 30 to 40% of the fanbase I'd say. But hey .. Just so you guyz understand what is and what is not a plot hole:
A plot hole is an narrative element that contradicts the internal logic of the story with an impossibility and cannot be fixed or explained through the narration of the story without rewriting what was previousely said.
In other words, if you can explain something, it's not a plot hole. It can seems as a weird inconsistancy on surface, but it's not an error.
There are no plot holes here. DomiReversi is quite simple and there are many in lore ways to explain why Xebec was damaged while the Giants seems a lot better.

Also, I hope one day, this trend of picking random storytelling terms out of context - that are actually debated among writers - to put down a story that is not to the liking of the reader.. will stop.
