Shanks still has 0 DC feats.
He solo’d Loki, who has Thrudheim.

DC is the most inconsistent stat in OP anyways. Logically, Onigashima should be rubble from all the top, high, and mid tiers fighting on it, but that didn’t happen because Oda doesn’t want to have to constantly change the environment and devote extra time to drawing mass destruction.

When was it said Shanks defeated Loki?

So what? Admirals and Whitebeard are the reason OP verse has great DC feats to begin with.

All the other top tiers need to pull out their all out moves to show a part of these feats and there are even some like Big Mom.

Loki is the first one who can display this kind of DC again quite easily.

I still have no idea why Oda decided to set the entire war in yet another island when Wano Country was in front of them. He could actually make mid, high and even top tiers go completely all out.
Kaido was constantly worried he'd be destroying his castle completely. I guess that's another reason why we didn't just see some island nuking moves more often aside of Puncture Wille, BG and Blazing Bagua.

Furthermore, Admirals had consistently SHOWN to have great DC and it was never so inconsistent like that. Kuzan froze the ocean in his introduction. He froze the ocean in MF and at PH, he even permanently affected the state of an island.

@soupongo Should Admiral fans stop using Aokiji’s Water 7 ocean freezing feat? It’s a cool feat, but I think it’s pretty clearly an outlier atp. Oda just doesn’t want to draw top tiers using attacks of that scale anymore
I wouldn´t have a strong disagreement if you decided to use PH to scale him instead personally.

I think pre TS op is still valid in discussions though, just like I believe in pre TS naruto being valid in discussions. I kind of dislike blankly using ¨retcon¨ to justify things when the author never went out of his way to specifically say something. Kuzans true unleashed powers are insane in scale, at the very least.

Why could Kuzan’s ice not catch the Polar Tang in MF? Why couldn’t Kuzan freeze the ocean to stop SWORD from sailing away? It’s pretty clear imo that Oda decided to scale back the DC of top tiers

I mean most authors don’t like to admit that they had to retcon stuff. If Kuzan could still instantly freeze dozens of miles of ocean, then how did the Polar Tang outrun his ice in MF?

Same goes for Naruto. It’s pretty obvious that in part 1, Minato was supposed to be the strongest Hokage, Prime Hiruzen was supposed to be the 2nd strongest Hokage, and Kisame was supposed to be relative to the other 7 swordsmen of the Mist, but all those got quietly retconned.

Yeah, I´m open to this being subtly retconned tbh. But only because something specifically happened showing he might not be able to freeze that fast, though...could it also be PIS? Feels like even with his MF and beyond feats, he should have been able to catch that, so its either Luffys plot armor or Kuzan pulled a fattora.

Nah, there´s ultimately no reason to think Minato´s role was ever retconned. He died nobly and famously, but it was before his prime. He was never above prime hiruzen, just maybe old Hiruzen.

The Asura Indra plot has been changed and added overtime, which gave Hashirama much more importance because he had to stop Madara, but there´s pretty much zero story reason for Kishi to change the roles of the other Hokage, who basically are no more or less relevant than eachother at the end of the day

And I seriously doubt Kisame was ever supposed to be Zabuza level lol. Zabuza was also weaker than Kakashi, even by pre ts, Kakashi was portrayed under the Akatsuki, or at best equal.

PIS is an even lazier excuse when it comes to powerscaling than retcon is imo.

@soupongo

Hiruzen thought that Orochimaru bringing back the 4th would be even worse than him bringing back the 1st and 2nd, so at best Prime Hiruzen was the only Hokage stronger than Minato in Kishi’s mind back then.

In the Search for Tsunade arc, Kisame’s main hype stemmed from him being a 7 Ninja Swordsman. Also it’s pretty clear that his feats were much lower in scale. Shippuden Kisame would be able to throw that entire river against the Jonin instead of just doing a Zabuza level water dragon, and Shippuden Kisame could easily counter the Toad Stomach Jutsu by just flooding the entire hotel

Is it? Have you forgotten the Wedding Cake part when Big Mom kept chasing the strawhats?
PIS is valid when it comes to characters making dumb decisions, but not as valid in purely powerscaling cases, such as insisting that Luffy and Zoro forgot that they could effortlessly move at sonic speeds, much less relativistic speeds. And unless you want to argue Oda was legit on drugs when he wrote Gazelleman, I don’t think the outlier argument really makes sense either. Sure it’s an outlier to some extent, but it’s kinda ridiculous to argue that the characters are moving around at over 300,000,000 m/s in Oda’s mind when Oda himself made the conscious decision to write 200 km/h being some sort of impressive speed

Nah, this was never straight up said. Hiruzen just stopped the third coffin because he realized what was happening by that point. Let´s not act like there was a specific statement there, and even the Anbu talk about how those two were the ultimate shinobi. The portrayal at that point wasn´f favoring anyone among the Hokage except Hiruzen, who was viewed as the strongest.

No lol. Kisame being one of the seven swordsman is as important to his hype as Itachi is being Uchiha. It´s just what people would know about them as, but they´re clearly the strongest of their groups which is why the ended up being recruited by the Akatsuki. Kisame was definitely not portrayed as someone on the same level as Zabuza, the first villain in the manga.

But yeah, there´s power inflation regarding DC.[/QUOTE]
