Break Week What is the difference between Oda's break weeks and Togashi's Hiatuses?

It seems like there is such a different attitude towards Oda's breaks versus Togashi's Hiatuses. why do you think that is? do you think it would be better for Oda to take a hiatus and rest rather than taking an extra weekly break a month?

Oda takes breaks for rest and recovery. He has shared some but limited information about his health, it's been reported he is diabetic, has gout and high blood pressure.

Togashi takes hiatuses because he has chronic, debilitating health issues that physically impair him. He literally cannot draw sitting anymore.

Mangaka wreck their health and bodies to keep up with the demands of their work.

Work which goes beyond simply drawing week to week.

So why do you think there is so much more complaining about Oda taking breaks compared to Togashi if they're both for health issues?

I feel like he’s juggling too many balls at once with his involvement with other projects such as the live action, overseeing secondary material like datebooks, and potentially the upcoming movie.
The bigger the success, the more work there is to do.

One Piece is multimedia empire with many revenue streams that come with their own stakeholders. It is worth billions through licensing deals and partnerships for toys, merchandise, apparel, snacks, expanded media, co-promotions, and so on and so forth.

All of these are represented by monied interests that want a piece of Oda whenever they can get it and don't easily take no for an answer.

The work never stops. There's always something or someone that requires input or attention, a sign-off, a consultation, etc.

Suffering from success, but for real.

The difference is that Togashi actually writes a good well planned out story and has great paneling and art.

Meanwhile Oda takes a break from smearing shit all over the pages and drawing his scribbles
