These initial results doesn't mean anything, the last time we had a global popularity poll, the actual final results were much more different from the ones they kept showing before.

Also don't forget that right now these early initial rankings are just based on online votes which are worth 1 point, they have yet to even count mail votes which are worth 10 points.

The results will keep changing over time and the final results will be much more different.

The mail votes (exclusively from within Japan too iirc) being worth much more than everything else is what really screwed it up tbh

A handful of people in Japan mailing in a few votes is worth more than hundreds of OP fans from around the world voting every day

Most manga fans I know don't follow the anime consistently but are still exposed to it on social media.

That has an effect. And so do all the ways they diminish Sanji.

I think Zoro has wider appeal than Sanji, but he now also more competition for the edgelord vote. There's gonna be a split with Mihawk, Rocks, etc. that rival his cool factor.

Luffy and Sanji fans tend to be more loyal. Sanji is popular with women in particular, in fact I think they make up the majority of his fans.

I'm a little surprised by the results for Law.
