Any other author could’ve turned the Knights of God into iconic antagonists on par with Akatsuki, Phantom Troupe or the Espada. Minimum as good as the League of Villains

But of course we get Oda instead
No they couldn't have lol

The Knights of God were introduced in the Final Saga of One Piece

Let's see when the factions you mentioned were set up or introduced:

The Akatsuki were setup/introduced in Part 1

The Phantom Troupe were setup from the beginning and fully introduced in Yorknew City (early-midpoint of the series)

The Espada were introduced in Hueco Mundo which again is the middle point of the series

The League of Villains was something Horikoshi built to throughout the entire manga

The only comparison you could make are the Warlords or the Admirals. None of the factions you listed (or can name) were introduced near the end of the manga and hit the same highs

They even have the same tier meme as the akatsuki

e, but there because he wasn't an antagonist in EH.

Or at least, Oda wanted him to do the bare minimum and playing the moral dilemma part.
He was an antagonist in Egghead. The fact he saves Luffy doesn’t stop him from antagonizing Luffy the entire time he’s present in the arc. He’s complicated but complications doesn’t make him a protagonist.

Because Kaido had an entire fight.

Kuzan arrived, was said to be weavering, matched old Garp and Oda showed his strenght being on par with prime Garp + CoC. All that while barely using the fruit
Kuzan can waver all he wants, his reaction time is shit, he needed an entire island to back him up in the end to subdue one old guy.

Oda has not portrayed him as that strong and hasn’t given the admirals much if any respect

The Shichibukai are not a big faction outside this manga lol? The knights of god would be iconic as Hell

Yeah maybe they'd be iconic if they played a role earlier

But all of the manga with super iconic groups of antagonist typically have them play a role in the middle of the story at the latest. You're comparing antagonists that were either setup from the very beginning of the story (like the Phantom Troupe and Akatsuki) and antagonists that were relevant when the main cast was significantly weaker (like the Espada) to secondary antags in the Final Saga

If you wanna argue that they should've been introduced earlier then that's one thing. Go ahead

But to say that other authors could accomplish more with the same structure is baseless
