Yet the fodders in Onigashima don't call him or recognize him as such and we know very well they are aware of the news from the outside world as seen at the end of Dressrossa when they were commenting Luffy and law having defeated Doflamingo.
So we know the fodders read newspapers and have most likely read the one calling Luffy the 5th emperor, yet do not recognize him as such.
Also Luffy dealt with subordinates this arc as evidenced by his attempted punch on Queen in Udon or having to go G4th to escape Ulti's Grip against her and page 1.
I think we are all underestimating how much luffy's physical base stats grew after Udon and that he is not the same guy who fought Katakuri in Wci anymore hence all those who have good feats against him right now air also people with whom Wci Katakuri will have all the pain in the world to deal with.
